Comparison
Tappy vs Siri
Both listen. Only one of them moves your windows. Here is the same job asked of each, and an honest account of where Siri is still the better answer.
Side by side
Tappy vs Siri, side by side
Ask them both to open Chrome. Both clips start together and run at their own length, and the gap between them is the whole argument.
Recorded on the same Mac, one after the other. Neither clip is sped up or cut.
Feature by feature
What each one can actually do
Anything marked as missing is missing by voice. You can usually still do it by hand, which is rather the point.
Open or quit an app
Built in, by name.
By name, and it waits until the app is really there.
Fullscreen, maximise or tile a window
No spoken command for it. Only by building a Shortcut yourself.
“Fullscreen this”, “put Chrome on the left half”, “maximise it”.
Rewrite text you have selected
Writing Tools rewrite, but you reach them from a menu, not by saying what you want.
Say how you want it. It comes back replaced in place, in any app.
Two instructions in one breath
Siri AI handles chained requests.
Split and run in the order you said them.
Routines you define yourself
Through the Shortcuts app.
Drag steps into order and describe the moment in plain words.
Answer a general question
That is most of what it is for.
It acts rather than answers. Ask Siri the questions.
Where it lives
Spotlight, and an app of its own.
The notch, on top of whatever you are already in.
Being fair
Where Siri is the better answer
A comparison that only flatters one side is an advert. These are the reasons to keep using Siri, and we mean them.
It is already there, and free
Siri costs nothing and is on the Mac you bought. Tappy is a separate app in limited early access.
It answers things
Conversation, general knowledge, follow-up questions. Tappy does none of that, on purpose. It does things instead.
It is on everything you own
iPhone, Watch, HomePod, CarPlay. Tappy is a Mac app and will stay one.
FAQ
Tappy and Siri, asked properly
Does Tappy replace Siri?
+
No, and it is not trying to. Siri answers questions across all your Apple devices. Tappy drives the Mac in front of you. Most people who use Tappy keep Siri.
Can Siri move windows on a Mac?
+
Not with a built-in spoken command. You can build a Shortcut that tiles windows and trigger that by voice, but there is nothing to say out of the box. Tappy treats window control as a first class command.
Is Tappy actually faster than Siri?
+
On the recording on this page, asking both to open Chrome on the same Mac one after the other, Tappy finished in 6.8 seconds and Siri in 23.5 seconds. Neither clip is sped up or cut.
Does Tappy need Apple Intelligence?
+
No. It runs on macOS 13 or later and does not use Apple Intelligence at all. Speech is transcribed by your Mac and the routing is a separate call.
Can I use both?
+
Yes. They listen for different things: Tappy for a held shortcut or its own wake word, Siri for hers. Nothing conflicts.
Early access

Tappy is still in testing, so places are limited and go out a fixed number at a time. Email us and we will send it over when one opens.
Why it is limited
Letting a set number of people in at once means we can answer all of them and fix what they run into before the next group. You are not on a waiting list forever; you are in the next one.
macOS 13 or later. Or email info@techhubai.co.
